Volunteer Positions

Adair Rural Fire and Rescue is always seeking volunteers to join our department.  Adair Fire volunteers resond from home and ideally live within the Adair Rural Fire protection disctrict boundaries to respond out of our main station in Adair Village or our Soap Creek Valley substation.  Adair does not have a resident volunteer program.  Volunteers are not required to do shift work.

Our firefighters come from many different backgrounds and professions. Some have previous medical or fire  experience, others started our fire service careers at Adair.  No experience is necessary. The department provides all the training and equipment you need to safely and effectively respond to emergencies.  New recruits attend a fire academy and emergency medical responder certification program.  Volunteering will challenge and reward you.  The skills and experiences will stay with you for a lifetime.

 We run  200+ calls a year and have a weekly drill every Wednesday from 7:00 – 10:00pm.  See pictures of how we invest our time below.

2026 SEASONAL FIREFIGHTER

Adair Rural Fire Protection District is now accepting applications for a 2026 Seasonal Firefighter position. Serve your community while gaining valuable fire and emergency response experience in a dedicated rural fire department.

Pay: Based on current OSFM Mobilization plan, experience and medical certifications.

Expected Duration: June2026 – October 2026. Up to 40 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         18 years or older.

·         Must pass background check.

·         Valid Oregon driver’s license.

·         NFPA/DPSST Firefighter 1 (or equivalent).

·         Wildland Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2).

·         Good physical condition.

·         Emergency Medical Responder.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         EMT or higher.

·         Prior fire service or wildland experience.

·         Driver certification.

·         Wildland FFT1.
